Spark your curiosity at Congress

BSHAA Chief Executive Prof David Welbourn says professional development is the real value of being at Congress…

We’re only a few weeks away now from this year’s BSHAA Congress, which takes place on 12/13 May at the Crowne Plaza Five Lakes Resort in Colchester. If you haven’t booked your place yet, can I strongly encourage you to do so? If you have, I’m very much looking forward to seeing you.

As well as the chance to network with colleagues, to make new connections and to enjoy the extended social programme on offer, for me the real value of Congress is the opportunity for genuine professional development.

The world-class education programme brings together experts from around the world on the latest advances in science and practice, with an emphasis on the contribution that good hearing makes to wellbeing. The exhibition, meanwhile, gives you direct access to new technology solutions and a large range of hands-on assessment tools.

Together, the breadth of these resources enables you to reflect on and incorporate learning into your day-to-day practice. Professional development is distinct from training – its essence is about nurturing curiosity, stimulating better questions and enhancing judgement. This is the real professional value of being at Congress.
