Vaccination of HCPC Registered Audiologists

Under the guidance from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), front-line healthcare staff are included in priority group 2 and are eligible to receive their Covid vaccination at this time.

Hearing Aid Dispensers and their front-line support staff are included in this group, whether they deliver NHS services or practise independently.

In all areas, members of the public have been asked NOT to contact their GP practice to enquire about vaccinations. Please use the details and web links below. You can also download template letters to prove your eligibility for a vaccine.

Some local organisers have approached BSHAA directly seeking contact details for those community-based audiologists providing care in their areas. In these cases, we are advising members directly how to get in touch with them when we have been advised of the relevant postcode catchment areas.

You can get in touch with your local CCG in England directly to enquire about getting your vaccination if you have any issues with the booking link above. Use this CCG finder tool to enter your work postode to get the name of your CCG and a contact number.

TEMPLATE LETTERS TO PROVE YOUR ELIGIBILITY

We have produced template letters – for employed and self-employed members – which you can complete and forward to whoever is looking after the local arrangements covering your practice. Please add your HAD registration number after your name, as this will help confirm your right to be included as a front-line health worker.

You can also arrange for your front-line support staff (e.g. receptionists and hearing care assistants) to be registered in this phase as well. Just download and complete the relevant letter and sign your name as the responsible clinician – again, including your HAD number.

Privacy legislation prevents us from putting local organisers directly in touch with our members to expedite the contacting process. We are currently looking into whether we can provide the local organisers with the information you registered in the Find an Audiologist service on the basis that this is information you have asked us to share publicly as a guide to your practice. Please let us know by return if you do not wish us to share this information with local organisers, even on a confidential basis.
