Douglas Beck’s new job

One of the hearing care profession’s best known names has been appointed Director of Academic Sciences at Oticon in the United States.  He is Dr Douglas Beck who has been a speaker at BSHAA events, most recently at the annual Congress in Coventry in 2014.

The Company says the new title reflects Beck’s more than 11 years of contributions to Oticon’s academic, clinical and education efforts in the US and around the world.

Oticon President Peer Lauritsen commented:  “Through his many speaking engagements abroad and in the US, Doug Beck has earned a reputation as a resourceful and enthusiastic speaker.  The feedback we receive from audience members consistently shows us that Doug is an extremely effective ambassador for Oticon and our ongoing commitment to support hearing care professionals in acquiring the knowledge and skills they need to provide quality patient care.”

Dr Beck is a prolific author with 152 published articles and more than 1500 abstracts, interviews and op-eds addressing a wide variety of audiology and professional topics.

At the same time the firm says it has appointed Thomas Lawrence as Director of Sales in recognitiion of  his “outstanding management skills that have enabled the Company sales team to continue to demonstrate best-in-class practices in delivering quality services and support to the Oticon’s professional partners.”Mr Lawrence has more than 15 years’ experience in sales, marketing and business development in the medical device and healthcare arena where he has developed a reputation for building strong teams that understand customer needs.

Lawrence joined Oticon, Inc. in 2015 in the newly created position of National Sales Manager.  ”Tom is a leader who understands the challenges our business partners face in an evolving healthcare marketplace,” said Mr Lauritsen. “In just one year, Tom has driven improvements and implemented strategies that will allow us to better meet our partners’ needs now and help continue their success into the future.”

Mr Lauritsen announced two additional promotions: Barbara Beck has been appointed Senior Customer Service Manager and Adam Alexander has been promoted to Customer Service Manage
