Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS): individuals may be placed on furlough by agreement with their employer and continue to be paid at least 80% of their normal pay up to £2500 per month – some employers may continue to pay the full amount: employees who were made redundant after 28th February may be reinstated and furloughed instead;
those with more than one employer will be considered for furlough separately by each employer, subject to respective contracts of employment;

universal credit: where individuals are facing severe hardship, they may be covered by Universal Credit, and they may be able to receive a loan against future payments to shorten the lead time;
mortgage providers have been encouraged to look favourably on requests for mortgage holidays and landlords have been given protection to ensure renters will not be evicted.
