IQIPS Standards and Criteria Audiology

Improving Quality in Physiological Services (IQIPS) is a professionally-led accreditation programme encompassing a quality improvement pathway, followed by accreditation. IQIPS is formed on a set of standards developed by professional groups. Accreditation is awarded by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and is a kite mark for high quality processes within a hearing care provider’s organisation.   Those who have following the programme will describe how it requires an enormous amount of time and effort to achieve the standard and subsequently keep it up.

The standards which have to be met run to 30 pages and range from having a system to ensure that patients have access to user friendly information about what happens before, during and after an examination or procedure right through to having systems in place to ensure that there is appropriate management of patients who have any adverse reaction or distress resulting from audiological examinations/procedures.
