PAULA COOK – 2019 BSHAA Council election candidate

2019 BSHAA COUNCIL ELECTION

PAULA COOK

PERSONAL STATEMENT

Hello.

I have worked within Audiology for the last 14 years, starting off as the ATO within Bucks NHS, then went on to do a Foundation Degree in Physiology and Audiology at Westminster and then continued to hearing aid dispensing at Aston University.

I then gained the position of Audiologist within Bucks NHS. Within this role I provided provision for adults, and helped within the Paediatric service. I supported ENT consultants within outpatients and within their private practice at BMI Hospital. I supported and taught students, wrote protocols for locum staff and helped develop the smooth running of the department.

In 2016 I left the NHS and joined Aston Hearing in the private sector, where my knowledge of hearing aids has grown. This year I became Amersham branch manager, where I am responsible for the smooth running of the branch.

This year I have also been nominated Audiologist of the Year 2019.

I would be honoured to sit on the BSHAA Council and feel that I have the experience of having two deaf children, have worked within the NHS and private sector so would hope I could give a no-bias view of both services, and have knowledge to bring to the fold, but also willing to learn much more.
