BSHAA president Andrew Coulter, pictured right, said: “I’d like to thank Raul, David and Alan – all excellent candidates – for standing for election, and to our four new Council members. The Society can only operate thanks to the commitment of members who step up to play their part. I’m now looking forward to working closely with Raul and all Council members to continue developing strong relationships within our sector and to embrace the huge opportunities for our profession and our members. I’d also like to thank all members who voted; it’s so important that Council members receive a strong mandate for the important work they do.
“Finally, I’d like to say a big thank you to Sarah Vokes, Ian Croft, Steve Edmunds, Sam Godkin and Paul Harrison, who are all standing down from Council after giving valuable service to BSHAA over many years.”
BSHAA chief executive Prof David Welbourn added: “The close result in the election for Vice President is vindication of our decision to put the choice of our next President into the hands of members. Congratulations to Raul, and thanks to both Alan and David for ensuring that this was a close-run election.
“I’m also delighted to congratulate our four new members of Council, who between them bring widely differing experiences, and help us in our drive to ensure that BSHAA’s leadership more closely mirrors the diversity of our members.”
New Council members, and the Society’s new Vice President, will officially begin their roles early next year at the first Council meeting of 2020 on 9 January in London.
