With almost 30 prizes in the VISA scheme run as part of the Congress exhbition, six groups of winners in the fancy dress competition and the presentation to the Poster Competition winner, smiles and handshakes were very much in evidence.
Arguably the prizes for most creative talents went to Kathryn Woodside who won the student poster competition and Mark Williams who won the BSHAA People writing prize, although he wasn’t able to be present. Kathryn received her cheque for £100 and a winners certificate from President Peter Sydserff – see her winning poster here. Mark will receive his certificate and a cheque for £250 for the best article to be published in BSHAA People during the past twelve months, at a later date.
Clare Kewney won the prize for the best individual fancy dress at the Congress Dinner (Friday night, May 13th). The theme was “Stars” and Clare came as Dolly Parton. There was an honourable mention for David Foley who was dressed as Elton John. Geoff Campbell and LIz Duffy won the best couple prize for their amazing Darth Vader and Princess Leia costumes while the best team award went to the team from Widex who were Cheerleaders. There were also honourable mentions for Phonak (Startrekkers) and for ReSound who were cowboys.
