Audiology Best Practice Standards - Incorporating Virtual Care
15th June 2020
The provision of virtual care in audiology has been accelerated as the Covid-19 pandemic forces practitioners to deliver more remote services.
The constant shift in the preferences and expectations of individuals as we navigate the pandemic as members of the public, employees and consumers will determine how we live, work and engage technology.
The audiology sector, and its stakeholders, will need to reimagine how it is structured and how it provides services going forward, to be both more productive and more flexible, whilst adhering to best practice guidance. We will have to refine it, until we get it right.
Many audiologists will be torn by the dilemma of confronting an impossible volume of clinical need, whilst threatened by the personal distress of financially unsustainable business models, and tempted by this fresh appetite for innovation. It is only natural that new and transformed models of care are emerging.
This healthy diversity within the profession will inevitably result in a vibrant and healthy debate in relation to how we practice audiology now and in the future.
