Raul Garcia-Medina

BSHAA President

Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. My name is Raul Garcia-Medina and I have the honour and privilege to be the current president of the Society.

My role is to head the body of professionals who make up our Council and to guide them through the decisions taken at council meetings. All of these are taken with our purpose and the people whom we serve in mind.

Membership of the professional society is voluntary and we are ever conscious of that. We are grateful that the majority of Health and Care Professions Council registered Hearing Aid Dispensers choose to become a member but  we never rest in looking for new ways to add value to membership and increasing professionalism.

Prof David Welbourn

BSHAA Chief Executive

I'm David Welbourn, proud to be the Chief Executive of the the professional body dedicated to providing the highest quality of hearing care.

On behalf of all who seek help with their hearing, and all those professionals dedicated to providing that care, I am pleased to introduce you to BSHAA and hope you will find the information and support you need.

Hearing is one of our precious senses, playing a vital role in enabling people to engage with each other in family, social or work settings.  It is common to experience difficulty to hear well in crowded, noisy and busy places, especially as we age.  Far too many people don’t acknowledge this or seek help until it may be too late.  More and more evidence shows how important good hearing is in helping you to engage fully in everyday activities that you love doing.  In the majority of cases, modern hearing aids can help you keep in touch and overcome the effects of ageing on your hearing and helping to keep you fit and active both physically and mentally.

BSHAA is the voice for registered professionals who are committed to providing the best possible care for your hearing and finding the right solution and support to meet your needs.  All our members are regulated by the Healthcare Professional Council who demand strict standards of professional conduct.  In addition, BSHAA supports our members by providing opportunity for continued learning and encouraging them to strive for excellence in all that they do.  Our code of conduct and our customer care scheme are all part of the assurance you have when seeking help with your hearing care from a BSHAA member.
