Nominations open for 2019 BSHAA elections

Nominations opened on Monday 23 September for the 2019 BSHAA Council and Vice President elections.

As well as electing six Council members in November, the BSHAA membership will also be electing the Society’s next Vice President who will go on to become President in 2021.

The closing date for nominations is noon on Monday 14 October 2019.

Council is the governing body of the Society, where all important decisions are made to ensure BSHAA is well managed on behalf of both members and the profession. Council members are responsible for ensuring that all the work the Society carries our on behalf of the profession is consistent with our threefold statement of purpose:

  • CARE: We believe in delivering the highest level of care;

  • SUPPORT: We are passionate about supporting our members to achieve this;

  • ADVOCATE: We are the voice of our community and will always be an advocate for the future of our profession.

BSHAA President Andrew Coulter said: “Joining BSHAA Council will place members in a strong position to influence the direction the profession takes in these fast-changing times. Council members deliver BSHAA events, shape professional standards, influence our membership offer and much more.

“Members don’t need decades of experience to stand for election to Council. In fact, we are particularly encouraging BSHAA members in the early stages of their career to stand for election to Council, as well as members who are able to help drive our work in engaging with students. Council works best when we have a diverse range of voices, practice settings and experience. Also, women and minority ethnic groups are currently under-represented on Council, and we really do want to change this.”
